How would you describe a POV character?

For a viewpoint character, one of the simplest ways of “describing” him/her is by using comparisons with other characters as the viewpoint describes them.

How do you decide which characters should be POV?

To choose which POV is right for your next writing project, think about what effects you want to achieve, and ask yourself these questions:

  1. How many characters do I need to tell this story?
  2. How close do I want my readers to feel to the character?
  3. Who would have the most interesting narrative voice?



What is the effect of POV?

It gives viewers a sense of what it’s like to see what that character sees. The other characters look directly into the camera, the camera pans and moves to see what’s going on, enhancing the viewing experience and making us feel like we are a part of the story.
