Is anything like the propulsion systems (warp/impulse drives) copyrighted from being use in other sci-fi novels?

Q: Is anything like the propulsion systems (warp/impulse drives) copyrighted from being used in other sci-fi novels? No. But beware of using registered trademarks, and “distinctive likenesses” without permission!!

Is the term warp drive copyrighted?

Warp drives first appeared in science-fiction back in the early nineteen-thirties. As a result warp drives are neither copyright nor trademarked as belonging to Star Trek.

Is warp speed a real thing?

A warp drive or a drive enabling space warp is a fictional superluminal spacecraft propulsion system in many science fiction works, most notably Star Trek, and a subject of ongoing physics research.

Who coined the term warp drive?

As any avid Star Trek fan can tell you, the eccentric physicist Zefram Cochrane invented the warp-drive engine in the year 2063.

How did Gene Roddenberry come up with warp drive?

Roddenberry knew some basic astronomy. He knew that space ships unable to go faster than light would take decades to reach the stars, and that would be too boring for a one-hour show per week. So he put warp drives into the show — propelling ships by distorting the space-time continuum that Einstein conceived.

Is NASA making a warp drive?

DARPA and NASA Scientists Accidentally Create Warp Bubble for Interstellar Travel. A Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency-funded research project at NASA’s Johnson Space Center may have accidentally discovered how to build a warp drive engine. The scientists published their findings in July.

How many mph is warp 1?

In the sci-fi universe of “Star Trek,” spaceships with warp drives can zoom past the normally impenetrable limit of light speed, or about 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second) in a vacuum.

Did NASA create a warp bubble?

Or at least it was science fiction until the world’s first warp bubble was accidentally discovered by DARPA funded researchers, according to the scientists report. It was discovered by the Limitless Space Institute (LS) team led by former NASA warp drive expert Dr. Harold G “Sonny” White.

Is warp technology possible?

None of the physically conceivable warp drives can accelerate to speeds faster than light,” Bobrick says. That is because you would require matter capable of being ejected at speeds faster than light—but no known particles can travel that fast.

Are Tetryon particles real?

A tetryon was a subatomic particle that can only exist in subspace environments. Tetryon radiation is a bombardment of these particles.

Why is warp 10 Impossible?

Our solution was to redraw the warp curve so that the exponent of the warp factor increases gradually, then sharply as you approach Warp 10. At Warp 10, the exponent (and the speed) would be infinite, so you could never reach this value.

Do dilithium crystals exist?

Dilithium is found in asteroids and moons, and can be mined by placing Mining Stations on those moons which are found to contain it, or Prospecting Platforms and Freighters in similar asteroid belts. It is extremely valuable, and each crystal must be kept track of.

What does NCC in Star Trek stand for?

Naval Construction Contract

NCC is the Starfleet abbreviation for “Naval Construction Contract“, comparable to what the U.S. Navy would call a hull number. Jefferies rejected 3, 6, 8, and 9 as “too easily confused” on screen; he eventually reasoned the Enterprise was the first vessel of Starfleet’s 17th starship design, hence 1701.
